Deworming

Periodic deworming will help your pet stay healthy and prevent parasite-related illnesses.

Regular deworming helps protect your pet from unwanted visitors such as parasites and worms that can harm their health. With all systems in place, we can build up their immune system to lock out any pests so that they can live a stress-free and healthier life. To schedule an appointment to get your pet dewormed, call us at 905-579-4040.

What are the signs that my pet needs to be dewormed?

It can be hard to notice if your pet is showing any signs of a worm infestation. That is why we strongly recommend bringing them in for their routine checkups, so our team can determine if your pet needs to be dewormed. Symptoms to look for that suggest your pet could have worms are:

  • Vomiting and diarrhea
  • Bloody or soft stool
  • Stomach bloating
  • Weight loss
  • Loss of appetite

How often should my pet be dewormed?

For puppies and kittens, we recommend deworming every 2 weeks until they are 3-months-old. From there, our veterinarians will assess your pet’s unique medical needs and work with you to create a parasite prevention plan that works best for them.

What are common types of parasites found in pets?

The most common types of internal parasites found in pets include roundworms, heartworms, tapeworms, hookworms and whipworms. We can help protect your loyal companion from contracting and transmitting these parasites to other animals and humans by creating a parasite prevention plan.
